Old Genie garage door opener......?

I recently purchased a condo and the garage door open is a Genie brand. It is very old. The previous homeowners put on what looks like an extension of some sort to allow the use of a remote. I am unable to get the remote from the previous owners. I noticed the attatchement has 9 switch codes. So, I bought a craftsman remote with the 9 switch codes. Doesn't work. The extension says, "Allstar" on it. Any ideas on how I can get a remote to work?
