Is the media perpetuating racism?

CNN replayed a series called, “Black in America”. It was an attempt to focus on issues affecting African Americans. I think those types of shows do more harm than good. It seems like the liberal media in its attempt to be “inclusive” actually marginalizes. It gives the impression that some Americans are outside the mainstream. It perpetuates racism and division. Certain elites seem to thrive on a 1960’s world view which actually harms rather than heals. A perfect example is the umption that all African-Americans support Barack Obama. The media ignored anyone with an opposing viewpoint, further reinforcing the idea of "group think". African Americans are not monolithic. There is great diversity within the community. Ignoring this diversity is offensive. What are your thoughts?
