Employment questions?
I currently work in law enforcement, i work 32 hours a week in Tennessee, I have been at my employer for 2 yrs and recently ( a wk ago ) my uncle had a mive heartache, which he later died from. OK, well now my employer says that I cant have a day off to attend the funeral which is Saturday ( march 20 ) my question is, Am i not entitled to a day off? also I found the company policy book and in it, someone has hand written " full time" well is "full time" 32 hours in Tennessee?? Since it was hand written with out any kind of intials or anything is it still legal?? My employer stated I was considered " full time " to have medical insurance. So whats the deal? any ideas on what I can do? All i want to to go to the funeral, I think I am entitled to that, dont you?? Just wondering if there is anything I can do legally, like sue them?
